Research Interests
I majored originally art history, especially on Chinese Ceramics, during my undergraduate study in Kyoto University.
After 6 years of experience at NHK, Japanese equivalent of BBC, as a TV program director, I returned to academia majoring contenporary history, more precisely history of modern computing. I published two books in Japanese on the history of Internet from my doctoral dissertation.
I am interested in how new technologies become embedded in the society, including processes of innovation, design, and policy making. These years, I have been involved in the Multilingual educational support program employing ICT technologies. Within the social design process of the system, I became interested in HCI field.
I spent a year in Stanford from September 2009 to August 2010 as a H-Star visiting scholar at Stanford HCI group.
